Ayzeo Content Opportunity Score (ACOS): How It Works
Understand how the Ayzeo Content Opportunity Score (ACOS) ranks your Google Search Console queries across 9 dimensions to surface the best content creation targets.
Key Takeaways
- The Ayzeo Content Opportunity Score (ACOS, 0-100) ranks which GSC queries are best suited for new content creation
- It is 100 % algorithmic — no AI credits are used, and scores update instantly
- The ACOS combines 9 dimensions including position potential, search demand, trends, and content gaps
- Higher scores mean a query offers more traffic uplift potential with less effort
What is the Ayzeo Content Opportunity Score (ACOS)?
When you connect your Google Search Console to Ayzeo, we sync your search query data—impressions, clicks, CTR, average position, and landing pages. With potentially thousands of queries, the ACOS helps you answer the key question: "Which query should I create content for next?"
The ACOS is a weighted composite of 9 individual metrics, each rated 0-100. The final score combines them using industry-tested weights that prioritize the highest-ROI content opportunities.
The 9 Scoring Dimensions
Striking Distance (20 %)
Measures how close a query is to reaching page 1 of Google. Queries ranking on positions 4-10 score highest because a small content improvement can push them to the top.

Score: 50

CTR Gap (10 %)
Compares your actual click-through rate against the expected CTR benchmark for your average position. A large gap signals that your title or meta description could be improved, or that a dedicated content page could better serve the search intent. The bigger the gap, the higher the score.
Search Volume (15 %)
Normalizes your total impressions against the highest-impression query in your project. Queries with more search demand get higher scores because creating content for them yields more potential traffic.
Momentum (10 %)
Compares impressions from the most recent 30 days against the previous 30 days. Rising impression trends indicate growing search interest—ideal for timely content creation. Queries that are gaining momentum score higher; declining queries score lower.
Position Trend (5 %)
Tracks whether your average position has improved between the two 30-day windows. An improving position suggests that Google is already favoring your site for this topic— creating dedicated content could accelerate this positive trend.
Content Gap (15 %)
Analyzes the current top landing page for the query. If Google sends traffic to your homepage or a generic category page instead of a dedicated article, that is a strong content gap signal.

Score: 90
Score: 70
Score: 10
Non-Brand Filter (10 %)
Detects whether a query contains your brand name or domain. Brand queries (e.g. "yoursite login") score 0 because they represent existing brand awareness, not content opportunities. Non-brand queries score 100 as they attract new audiences.
Long-Tail Score (5 %)
Longer queries (3+ words) tend to have clearer search intent and less competition. "How to optimize images for page speed" is a better content target than just "SEO" because it has a specific, actionable intent you can address with a focused article.
Traffic Uplift (10 %)
Estimates additional clicks you would gain if your position improved by 3 places. Uses industry CTR benchmarks per position to project the traffic delta. A query with 10,000 impressions at position 7 has significantly more uplift potential than one with 100 impressions at the same position.
Reading the ACOS
The ACOS ranges from 0 to 100. On the GSC Queries page, scores are color-coded for quick scanning:
70-100: High Priority
Strong content opportunity. Act on these first.
40-69: Medium Priority
Worth considering. Review the dimension breakdown.
0-39: Low Priority
Low potential or brand queries. Usually not worth new content.
Tip: Hover over any ACOS badge on the Queries page to see the breakdown of all 9 individual dimension scores.
Taking Action on High-ACOS Queries
When you hover over a query row, two action icons appear on the right:
Create Content Page
Opens the Content Page creator with the query pre-filled. Choose a template, configure settings, and generate an AI-optimized article targeting the search intent.
Run AI Visibility Check
Opens the AI Simulation page with the query pre-filled in "Write my own" mode. Run the simulation to see how AI chatbots respond to this query and whether your site is cited.
If a Content Page already exists for a query, the file icon turns green and links directly to the existing page instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I customize the scoring weights?
A: Not yet in the UI, but the weights are designed based on industry best practices. Custom weight profiles are planned for a future update.
Q: Why does a query with many impressions have a low score?
A: High impressions are only one of 9 factors. If the query already ranks in position 1-3, is a brand query, and has a dedicated landing page, the other dimensions will pull the ACOS down because there is little room for improvement.
Q: How is the "Momentum" trend calculated?
A: We compare total impressions from the last 30 days against the 30 days before that. A growth rate of 50 % or more scores 100; stable queries score 50; declining queries score 25 or 0 depending on the severity.
Q: What are CTR benchmarks?
A: Industry studies show that position 1 gets around 28 % of clicks, position 2 gets 15 %, and so on. We compare your actual CTR against these benchmarks for your average position. If you are getting fewer clicks than expected, the CTR Gap score increases.
